E-mailing Me

I like e-mail but...

Sending e-mail?

Over the last year or so, "spam" has become an enormous problem for me. If you don't know what spam is, you can read about it at the Anti-Spam Site. Briefly, it's unsolicited junk e-mail.

Unsolicited junk e-mail is a problem for me and my employer. It costs money to download such worthless junk as the latest in pheromone technology and adult web sites. To stop (or at least reduce) the amount of crap I receive every day, I've hidden my e-mail address on this page. This is the only page on my site with my e-mail address. Only a human should be able to spot it. Evil web robots, which automatically scour the web searching for e-mail addresses to send back to their hideous masters, should have some difficulty working out what my e-mail address is.

First, if you have a browser that supports e-mail, select this bogus e-mail address link. Then, remove the "X" from the word "austliiX" which appears in the To: line of your mail program. You can then mail me.

If your browser does not support e-mail, or you're having problems with the above setup, manually start up your e-mail program, compose a new message, and type in my e-mail address, which is dan, followed by the "at sign" (@), followed by AustLII's address, austlii.edu.au (include the dots before and after the word "net"). Put it all together, and away you go!

Sorry for all the bother, but I finally snapped when I received 20 junk messages in one day. It was amusing for like 3 seconds... This is despite being "signed up" on the major "global remove lists." Too many companies are now saying "don't bother replying as this is a one time mailing." I'm not anti-commerce, just anti-crap.
